Carl Allesø from Denmark will be retiring as General Secretary per 1st December 2004.

He has been the General Secretary since 1994. During the prize giving ceremony at the festival evening of the contest in Northern Ireland in September 2004, Carl was honored for his work for the World Ploughing Organization.

Ian Blair, Chairman of the World Ploughing Organization, thanked Carl for his effort and presented a replica of a ploughman doing a good ploughing job.

Before his job as General Secretary, Carl served as Board Member for Denmark from 1973 - 1993. During that time he has been Head Steward, Deputy Vice Chairman (1989 - 1991) and Vice Chairman (1991 - 1993).
